MY BIO

I was born in Washington D.C., but in my heart I am a fourth-generation Californian. My great-grandparents were gold miners in Nevada County. My father grew up in a Victorian house on Nevada City’s Prospect Hill. World War II, as wars do, transported him to Washington, where he met my mother and stayed. I recall watching the Rose Bowl in my childhood, huddled by a fire, enamored of a place where people could wear t-shirts on New Year’s Day. I moved here a few years later – and have not looked back. The fifth and sixth generations are here now, and we are all happy to be Californians.

Folsom has been my home for 30 years. What a wonderful town … and I have been privileged to write about it for most of the time I’ve lived here. Residents may remember receiving a monthly city newsletter in their mailboxes – I founded that newsletter and edited it for 11 years.

I have also been a writer and editor for several newspapers, including The Sacramento Bee, as well as an information officer for the city of Folsom, a technical writer at Intel, a medical editor, a communications manager for a state employees association and, for more than 12 years, the proprietor of a writing and editing service. I have won three business-writing awards and received proclamations from the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, the city of Folsom and the Rotary Club of Historic Folsom.

Good language, beautifully presented, is a passion to me. I strive to make every document I write not only clear and accurate but compelling to read. The hallmark of my career has always been quality.
